Mihoyo surprised a lot of players when they revealed that a new and free 5-star playable character is coming to the game. And this new character is no other than Horizon Zero Dawn’s protagonist, Aloy. The upcoming collaboration is the first time Mihoyo’s Genshin Impact will cross over other properties outside of Mihoyo’s games.
According to the announcement, Aloy will be released for a limited time in Genshin Impact Version 2.1 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles and Version 2.2 on other platforms. In Genshin Impact, Aloy is described as a savior from another world. As an expert hunter, she has cat-like grace and deadly accuracy with a bow and arrow. As with all the other characters in Genshin Impact, Aloy has a Vision that allows her to use elemental abilities. Her designated Vision is Cryo, or the ability to manifest the powers of ice.
So how can you get Aloy in Genshin Impact?
Aloy will be a part of a promotional event period called “Savior From Another World.” During the event, only those players who reached Adventure Rank 20 or higher will be able to claim Aloy for free via the in-game mail.
The Savior From Another World will roll out in two phases:
- Phase 1 will start with the release of Version 2.1 and will last until the release of Version 2.2. In this period, players who log into the game on their PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5 console can claim Aloy.
- Phase 2 starts with the release of the Version 2.2 update. It will last until the release of the Version 2.3 update. During this period, players who log Genshin Impact on any platform, be it gaming pc or mobile devices, can claim Aloy if they were not able to claim her during Phase 1.
Genshin Impact Version 2.1 update is expected to launch on September 1, 2021. Version 2.3 is scheduled to be released on November 24 if the plan follows. This means that players who want to see Aloy in the world of Teyvat have a lot of time to claim her as a special character in the game.
