Kerbal Space Program 2 Delayed to 2022

Kerbal Space Program 2

Take-Two Interactive announced that Kerbal Space Program 2 has been delayed again. The announcement came during the studio’s second fiscal quarter report. The game is now scheduled to be released for the studio’s fiscal year 2023, which can be as early as April 2022 or as late as March 2023.

It was later confirmed by Kerbal Space Program 2 creative director Nate Simpson that the game will now arrive in 2022. He posted the news in the game’s official forums to inform the community.

According to Simpson, although it is frustrating that the game has been delayed again, the development team is taking on an immense technical and creative challenge when they started on the project. He also said that they heard from the gaming community that quality is paramount and that they feel the same way. It is not enough that they just deliver a bunch of new features, but those features have to be stable and polished as well.

The studio further said that they are creating a reliable foundation on which players and modders can build for another decade or more. And that involves developing a game with solving problems that have never been solved before, which takes time to complete.

Kerbal Space Program 2 has experienced multiple delays throughout its development. The game was first delayed in early 2020 due to the effects of COVID-19. And then, in February 2020, a new KSP-focused development studio took over the game’s production from Star Theory Games.

Take-Two first acquired Kerbal Space Program in 2017, followed by the sequel announcement at Gamescom 2019.

Simpson further said that the Kerbal Space Program team will continue to post images and updates from the game. They will also release feature videos and developer diaries, including one video that will be posted this winter.

Kerbal Space Program 2 will be released for gaming PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
