5 Must Play Fall Games

CyberPunk 2077

Fall is typically a busy time for game releases, and 2020 is no exception. Below is a list of great games we think you should absolutely play this Fall!

  1. CyberPunk 2077 (Nov 19)
Chances are you’ve heard already heard about this little game called CyberPunk 2077

CD Project Red have gone all out in crafting the well realized world of Night City. We are just as excited as you are to dive into the fantastically realized dystopian future of CyberPunk 2077. Players will take control of their own custom character, known by other’s in this world as “V”. Equipped with cybernetic augments, you will build your legend in the grimy streets of Night city.

The game will have a variety of upgradeable weapons, hacking skills, and plethora of body enhancing implants allowing full freedom in how you play the game.

Roleplaying sees a huge focus here. Choice and consequence are at the center of story that will span a world filled with dystopian corporate intrigue, street gangs vying for street-cred, and mercenaries all looking to run the streets of Night City themselves.

November 19th can’t come soon enough.

AC: Valhalla
  1. Assassins Creed: Valhalla (Nov 10)
In 2017, Assassins Creed: Origins took the long running series in a new direction: the open world RPG. Exploring worlds that blend history and fantasy has since been a blast.

Valhalla will continue in this expansive manner, with a game world that will span from Norway to ninth-century England, allowing players to step into the world of Viking raiders and warring kingdoms.

The game promises large scale battles (called “Raids”), a visceral combat system, and a customizable settlement system. While Valhalla looks very similar to the previous two games, each game has built on the pasts success, and Valhalla looks to be no exception. We’ve always been of the opinion that you can never have too much of a good thing, so this game looks to be one well worth your time.

Watch Dogs: Legion
  1. Watch Dogs: Legion ( Oct 29)
Watch Dogs: Legion is set in a  London that is in disarray thanks to the rise of private military, a surveillance state, and organized crime. The game will revolve around the player recruiting a resistance to overthrow the elements that have turned this once great city into a dystopian hellscape.

The third entry in the Watch Dogs series will continue to play like a GTA game mixed with hacking and gadgets. Players will drive, hack, shoot, and stealth their way through a well realized virtual London.

Perhaps the most interesting evolution of Ubisoft’s open world game is their promise to allow you to “play as anyone”. That is, any NPC you see in their world can be recruited to your cause, and you can take control of any of this roster of recruited characters to take back London. Each character will come with their own backstory, personality, and skillset.

We’ve never seen a system like this in a game before, and this mechanic alone offers a compelling reason to check out Watch Dogs: Legion.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (Nov 13)
Last years Call of Duty: Modern Warfare felt like the series had finally arrived on PC. Complete cross platform multiplayer made playing with console friends a breeze, the game ran well, and had plenty of graphical settings to tailor the experience to your specific system.

This in addition to a wealth of content, including a great cinematic campaign, fun multiplayer, and a later-released battle royal “Warzone”, made this a complete package.

Black Ops: Cold War will follow in its footsteps, delivering an interesting campaign full of covert Cold-War missions and a wealth of polished multiplayer content.

Whether you are into competitive team based game modes, large scale combat with vehicles, or the bombastic fun of the Zombies game mode, there is something for everyone in this package.

If the quality of Modern Warfare is anything to go by, Black Ops Cold War will deliver another PC worthy experience.
Baldur’s Gate III
  1. Baldur’s Gate 3 ( Oct 6. Early Access)
While it isn’t making its full release, fans of RPGs will be delighted to try out Baldur’s Gate III as it makes it’s way to early access. Baldur’s Gate III is a sequel to the classic genre-defining Baldur’s Gate II, a game which many gamers remember fondly for it’s epic story, well realized companions, gorgeous isometric visuals, and a tactical real-time with pause combat system based on the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd edition rules.

Baldur’s Gate III is developed by Larian Studios, who you may recognize as the creators of the wildly popular and successful Divinity Original Sin Games. The second of the Original Sin Games is often lauded as one of the greatest computer role playing games of all time, so Baldurs Gate III is in worthy hands.

Baldur’s Gate III will feature a tactical turn based combat system based on fifth edition D&D rules, so other than learning the quirks of the D&D system, fans of tactical and turn-based RPGs should feel right at home.

Players can create their own custom character, or play as premade character that would have been an NPC in your party otherwise. Expect lots of player choice, challenging tactical combat, great dialogue, and an interesting plot line filled with plenty of side quests.

Can the game live up to the legendary Baldur’s Gate mantle? We think so and recommend giving the game a go.

Of course if you want to get the best experience out of playing these titles, we recommend one of our gaming systems. All of the games listed above will be fairly demanding of your hardware, so you will want a system that is up to snuff to deliver fast frame rates and crisp visuals.
