Skull and Bones to be Rebooted by Ubisoft

Skull and Bones

There have been reports that Ubisoft is working on a reboot of their pirate IP video game, Skull and Bones. And according to the sources, the game will now follow a live game model with an ongoing storyline.

The reports came from VGC after their sources leaked the news. According to their sources, Ubisoft has been struggling to put the game into its existing portfolio of open-world games. This decision led the team to apparently reboot it last year, and it will shift away from the premium box model used in Assassin’s Creed and The Division.

Skulls and Bones’ reboot will feature a persistent game world that comes with quests, characters, and storylines. Each will drastically evolve and change over time, which will be based on its gaming community’s collective actions.

There have been reports that the developers of the reboot version of Skull and Bones were inspired by Fortnite’s live storytelling. According to reports, this is Ubisoft’s attempt to reach out to a new set of audiences that prefer the excitement of live storytelling aside from the competitive gameplay.

Skull and Bones was first revealed during E3 2017 but was delayed in early 2018. However, Ubisoft moved the details to 2019, but there has been no release date announced until now.

In early 2019 though, Ubisoft announced a collaboration with Atlas Entertainment to create a TV show based on Skull and Bones. According to Atlas Entertainment, the TV show will be set in the lawless frontier of the Indian Ocean. It will introduce a female protagonist that lives during the end of the golden age of piracy in the 1700s.

Skull and Bones are developed for Microsoft Windows gaming PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It might also be developed for next-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The game focuses on naval warfare and piracy.
