Gearbox Publishing and Blackbird Interactive have surprised gamers with the unveiling of Homeworld 3, the third installment of the sci-fi real-time strategy game.
According to the announcement, Homeworld 3 is presently a few months into pre-production. The game is currently posted on Fig.com, which allows fans of the game to pledge or invest in its development. This means that fans can snag a backstage pass to affect the game’s development, as well as prove that fans are still waiting for a third game.
Fans who will pledge or invest in the game will have a say about its features, gameplay, and even on what the collector’s edition will include. It will also give them an inside look as to how Homeworld 3 is created, and how the game would look like.
According to its developers, fans can pledge at $500 per share, reserving an investment in the security of Fig and its company. The amount of money fans invest in will also generate returns based on the revenue the company makes once Homeworld 3 is commercially released.
Homeworld 3 will pick up just after the events of the second game. Blackbird Interactive further explained that it will deliver the best-in-class fleet combat in a fully 3D space setting. It is also said to feature a multiplayer option.
Homeworld 3 is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2020 on Microsoft Windows gaming PC.
