CDProjekt RED was the talk of the town last week after it was reported that four people who are employed in major positions have left the studio, all around the same time. Aside from that, there is an information circling regarding a rumor regarding the staff’s morale after negative reviews from the company review site Glassdoor has resurfaced online.
The employees that were mentioned above were Derek Patterson, a Senior Gameplay Producer; Mateusz Piaskiewicz, Lead Level Designer; Ovidiu Traian Vasilescu, former Project manager, and CD Project RED veteran Michael Stec, who was a Senior Art Producer on Cyberpunk 2077 and has worked on projects like the DLC for The Witcher 3.
Their departure has made fans worried that their upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077 will be delayed due to the issue. This prompted CD Projekt RED to release a statement through Twitter about the issue.
In that statement, CD Projekt RED’s Studio Head Adam Badowski and Co-Founder Marcin Iwinski confirmed that “Cyberpunk 2077 is progressing as planned” and will not be delayed. The post also addressed the concerns on the recent departures from the studio. “So, does a departure, even a high profile one, mean that the project is in danger?” they asked. “One would need to be courageous to base the future of an AAA RPG of such scope on people.”
In regards to the negative reviews they have been receiving on Glassdoor, the studio explained that their company is committed to working hard and setting ambitious goals, knowing that it needs a lot of time and efforts.
CD Projekt RED talked that the approach to making games is not for everyone. And for them, creating and developing games requires a conscious effort and the ability to “reinvent the wheel,” because they believe that it is the key to making a better game.
In the end, CD Projekt RED thanked their fans for their concern, and how it showed them that all their hard work are paid off.
