Thank goodness for RPG video games! Through them, we can experience the lives of different characters–characters going through their journeys and facing adversaries. If you love RPGs as much as I do, then let’s take a look at the most anticipating role-playing video games of 2017.

Cyberpunk 2077

From the creators of the critically acclaimed Witcher series comes a new RPG game set in the dark future of 2077. Cyberpunk 2077 introduces us into the open-world metropolis called Night City, where inhabitants rely on advanced technology to survive. Its inhabitants cannot speak any language and depend on translator implants to understand each other, and a digital device known as “Braindance” experience brain processes, muscle movements, and emotions of another person. The game’s plot hasn’t been revealed yet as of the moment.

Dauntless

Dauntless is a co-op, action RPG game soon to be released to gaming PCs in 2017. It takes place in a fantasy realm dominated by dinosaur-like beasts called behemoths. The game puts you in the role of a behemoth hunter which is known as a slayer. It also focuses on the gear, so this means that you have to craft weapons and armor and upgrade your character now and then. It is inspired by games like Dark Souls, World of Warcraft, and the Monster Hunter.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an upcoming first-person role-playing and sandbox video game set in a medieval kingdom called Bohemia, an imperial state of the Holy Roman Empire. The unique thing about this game is that it is historically accurate and realistic content. It means you’ll see period-accurate armor, weapons, and clothing, as well as combat techniques. It offers players highly interactive world which encourage emergent gameplay.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Mass Effect: Andromeda is one of the most awaited RPG game of 2017 and the sequel to 2012’s Mass Effect 3. It is the first in the series to introduce an open-world setup. Unlike the previous games in the series, Andromeda starts with the player either picking to play the role of Scott Ryder or Sara Ryder instead of choosing a character from six different classes. Nier: Automata

Pyre

Pyre is a party-based RPG created by the same developers who made Transistor, Supergiant Games. This game allows the players to lead a band of exiles as they fight for their freedom through ancient competitions. It features a two-player head-to-head versus mode which allows you to challenge a friend in fast-paced ritual showdowns. You’ll appreciate its celestial landmarks and its vast, mystical purgatory.

Vampyr

After the success of their episodic graphic adventure video game, Life is Strange, Dontnod Entertainment is back this year with a new action RPG game titled “Vampyr.” The game focuses on the story of a vampire doctor named Jonathan Reid. Set during the 1918 London Spanish flu pandemic, Vampyr will focus on how Doctor Reid tries to fight his bloodthirsty nature while evading vampire hunters.
