Overkill’s The Walking Dead has finally released a new trailer that shows the game’s second playable character, Maya. The game’s first playable character, Aidan, was introduced last year.
Maya is the second of the four playable characters to be revealed by Starbreeze Studio. The trailer showed Maya’s backstory, the horrors and hard choices she had to make when the zombie apocalypse started. It seems that Maya works as a doctor or nurse in a hospital when the outbreak first happened. It also showed a horrifying turn-of-events that required Maya to make a decision that she would never forget. The trailer is pure cinematic similar to the Aiden’s trailer, so don’t expect to see any gameplay.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead will feature four characters forming the game’s multiplayer co-op. Each of these characters has unique abilities, skill trees, and takes different roles on the team. According to details, Maya is said to be a former surgeon who can keep her teammates alive, probably playing as the support in the game.
The trailer premiered last week during the newest episode of Microsoft’s Inside Xbox series. The video also included an interview with Overkill executive producer Saul Gascon as he talked about the game. He also mentioned that he knows people want to see the actual gameplay footage, which they will eventually release in due time.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead is currently being developed with the help of The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. The game is also the result of a new long-term partnership between Starbreeze and Kirkman’s company Skybound Interactive.
The co-op multiplayer FPS action-shooting game is set in post-apocalyptic Washington, DC. The outbreak turns the dead into sinister zombies. Players can play with up to three friends, and take up a variety of missions and raids. They have to secure their supplies and strengthen their base camp against the threat of both the dead and the living.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead is set to be released this fall for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows PCs and gaming laptops.
