League of Legends World Champions: SKTelecom T1

Its official, SKTelecom T1 is now the only team to win the World Championship twice. And yes, for the first time in League of Legends history, a team has won their second World Championship and Summoner’s Cup.

The 2015 League of Legends Worlds Finals Season 5 concluded last November 1 in Berlin, Germany, with two Korean teams battling for top spot: SK Telecom T1 and KOO Tigers. SKT T1, already former Worlds champions in Season 3, accomplished a feat no one has ever done before when they dispatched KOO Tigers in a 3-1 series in front of 17,000 screaming fans in Berlin—and become two-time world champions.

The two-time champs almost made the perfect championship run, having not dropped a single game since the tournament began at the group stages in Paris. KOO Tigers although written off early in the running as the weakest of the Korean competitors should take solace in having at least drawn blood in their battle with the gods. In fact, KOO Tigers displayed an equally impressive performance, managing to take one game off of their fellow Koreans and tarnishing what could have been an undefeated run to the championship for SKT T1.

In a 3-1 series, here are the statistics of both team and the champions they have selected through the course of their matches.

The last game, of course, was spectacular as ever and despite’s KOO’s best efforts to downplay Faker’s Ryze, we all know how it will end. Faker survived two-man ambushers, turning around skirmishes and solo killing key targets from KOO. Faker punctuated the Worlds tournament and Season 5 with a final triple kill to secure an SKT T1 victory in Berlin.

And since the Worlds done, LoL players might want to resume back to your gaming PC and deal with your ranked games, noting that Season 5 will soon end this November 11. Hope you get that Victorious Sivir Skin!
